Did you hear and understand the Gospel Message of Jesus Christ to the extent that your faith was sufficient for you to trust Christ for your salvation?

Apostle Paul told us in Romans chapter 10 in verse 13 "that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" but he went on to say in the next verse, "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? It is important for you to know that it was sin just like yours that Christ came to this world to take away by the blood He sacrificed on the cross, and by believing on Him, you can be forgiven of those sins. Hear the gospel, receive the gift of life.

2. Did you pray for your salvation, or did you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for your salvation?

(Preachers can pray for you to be saved but that is not enough for your salvation because they cannot repent and believe for you to receive salvation, for you alone must repent (change your mind) and belief comes from your own heart, your salvation is entirely between you and God from your trust that Christ's death on the cross and subsequent resurrection from the dead was sufficient to save you from your sin). He is the Son of God.

3. Is what confidence you do have of your salvation, in the works that you do?

Beware of this confidence because those who have not believed often do good things, and remember that salvation comes by faith, not of works, it is a gift of God (Eph.2:8-9). Know this, the second you sincerely believe on the Lord Jesus Christ you are instantly justified and declared righteous, and now through sanctification you can start to grow ( Rom.5:1, Gal.3:24, Titus 3:7, 1 Cor.1:18, 1 Thes.5:23).

4 Do you have a new interest in your Bible? Do you have a desire to explore God's Word and share what you learn with others? Do you have a burden for the lost? Do you have a regular prayer schedule? These are actions of a Christian.

5. Is your speech like everyone else out in the world?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Cor.5:17).

6. Are you one who has never been convicted or disciplined by God for anything?

For the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child. If God doesn't discipline you as He does all of His children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really His children at all (Heb.12:6, 8).

A wise man feareth, and departeth
from evil: but the fool rageth, and
is confident. (Proverbs 14:16).

The burden of proof lies within the Scriptures. To have assurance you must believe what the Bible says, accept it, and do exactly what it commands.

Are you praying? If so, are your prayers being answered? "Dear friends, if we don't feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from Him whatever we ask because we obey Him and do the things that please Him (1 John 3:21, 22).

The Holy Spirit that is living within you reveals your salvation, "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Rom.8:16). People that are actually saved will experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit within their lives (1 John 4:13).

Christians are able to discern spiritual righteousness from that which is wrong. "We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error" (1 John 4:6).

Christians believe Jesus is who He said He was, Someone from above: "That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I Am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins (John 8:24).

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life" (John 5:24) NLT. Listening to the message is hearing the gospel preached which gives you the faith to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom.10:17).

Christ, on our behalf satisfied every demand of the law so that when believers put their trust in Him they are declared not guilty and now justified in the sight of God (Rom.3:21-26). Regarding salvation, Christ did it all for us.

When you were convicted by the Holy Spirit and was drawn to Jesus and you put your trust in Him as your savior, you were immediately saved. How do we know that? By the promise of God Himself. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life . . . . " (John3:36). " . . . . and Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37). When you come to Jesus with a repentant heart from godly sorrow for your sins, and believe that He is the Son of God who died for the sins of all sinners, and was raised to life to reign forever, you have the promise of the highest authority that you are saved from your sins. Live like you know it.

The Scriptures for each of those subjects come from different sections of the Bible. For those who have followed God's Plan for Salvation, the principle evidence of saving grace is holy living.
The apostle John dedicated his first letter to the subject we are exploring, stating the theme at the end: "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life". 1 John 5:13. John also told us in his gospel why it was written: "But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ; and that believing ye might have life through His name". John 20:31.
It is impossible for an unsaved person to have any true affection for Christ, because love is a result of the Spirit's work. Gl. 5:22, Rom.5:5 . Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments" John 14:15.
So What Proof Do I Have Of My Salvation?
Questions I Must Answer
Do I truly believe that my salvation came by grace through faith, and not from any works on my part, but solely a gift from God (Eph.2:8), if so, then I am ready to move on to the next question.
Do I love the Lord my God with all my heart, and with all my soul, and with all my mind, and my neighbor as much as myself (Matt.22:37-39) ? Love for God and love for people are strong signs of salvation.
Am I being obedient, observing the commandments, and doing the will of the Father (Matt.7:21)? The test of fellowship with God = "And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments" (1 John 2:3).
When there is sin in my life, does conviction, confession, and repentance follow quickly (1 John 1:5-10)?
Is sanctification (being built up, little by little, as a result of obedience to the word of God) occurring in my life as a believer, for that is precisely what happens in the life of a true believer (2 Pet.1:5-11). There should be a decreasing pattern of sin in my life (1 John 3:4-10). True believers grow.
Do I love the world and the things that are in it (1 John 2:15), remembering that Satan is the god of this world (2 Cor.4:4)?
Am I eagerly waiting and watching for the Lord's return (1 John 3:2-3).
If you cannot answer the above questions in a biblical manner, then you need to schedule a meeting with the Pastor and have a long serious talk with him.
